Export & Import Settings

Overview

PostEngine's Export & Import Settings feature allows you to easily transfer your PostEngine configuration—including photos, amenities, headers and footers, and other custom settings—to another computer or installation.

This is useful when:

  • Setting up PostEngine on a new computer
  • Reinstalling PostEngine
  • Upgrading from Chrome to PostEngine for Desktop
  • Keeping settings consistent across multiple computers

Access your PostEngine Settings Page

If you're using the PostEngine for Desktop application:

  1. Open PostEngine for Desktop.
  2. Click PostEngine Settings on the left-hand side.

If you're using the PostEngine Chrome extension:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click on the puzzle-piece icon in the upper-right corner of the Chrome browser window.
  3. Click on PostEngine by Rooof.
  4. Click Settings.

Export Settings

On the computer that contains the settings you want to transfer:

  1. Open PostEngine Settings.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Click Export Settings.
  4. Choose whether to include uploaded photos.
  5. Click Download Settings File.

A JSON file will be downloaded to your computer.

You can save this file, email it to another computer, or use it to restore your settings after reinstalling PostEngine.

Import Settings

On the computer where you want to apply the settings:

  1. Open PostEngine Settings.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Click Import Settings.
  4. Click Upload Settings File.
  5. Select the exported JSON file.

Once imported, your settings will match the original computer.

Note: Importing settings will overwrite any existing settings on the destination computer.

Troubleshooting

Can I use the same settings on multiple computers?

Yes, you can easily email the json file as an attachment and use it on as many computers in your office as you'd like!

I can't find my exported settings file.

The file is typically saved to your computer's Downloads folder and is named "post-engine-settings.json."
