Troubleshooting Failed Scheduled Posts
In this article
Overview
When a Scheduled Post fails you can hover your cursor over the failed post in your Scheduled Posts queue to see the reason why. You may be able to perform troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem or you might need to reach out to PostEngine support for help!
Listed below are common failure reasons, a short explanation of each one, and troubleshooting steps.
Common failure reasons and troubleshooting steps
phone verification required
Craigslist requires phone verification to publish the ad and no one was able to complete the process.
Once you've received this request from CL you will need to complete the process so that you can continue using your Craigslist account to post ads. For more info on how to complete the verification, please click here
email verification required
Craigslist requires email verification to publish the ad and no one was able to complete the process in time.
If you're scheduling your posts, PostEngine should complete email verification automatically but sometimes things go wrong! If you see this failure reason, please contact support
timeout
PostEngine couldn't complete the post because it lost connection during the process. This can happen if there was an issue with your internet connection, your PostEngine app was closed, your computer was shut off, etc.
Make sure your computer and the PostEngine app are kept on throughout the day and that you have a reliable internet connection. Timeouts often happen because computers go to sleep so make sure to check your power settings
PostEngine was offline
All PostEngine applications activated for your property were offline and therefore unable to post your ad.
Make sure at least one PostEngine application is installed, activated for your property, and kept on throughout the day. Also, check your power settings
network issue
The post wasn’t completed because PostEngine lost connection during the process.
Make sure the computer running PostEngine has a reliable internet connection and is kept online. And check your power settings
not validated by CL
This is usually because Craigslist has changed something. It could be that they've added a new field or adjusted the posting process somehow. Editing the ad title and including characters not accepted by Craigslist (ex a phone number) can also cause problems.
Please contact support
CL was down
The Craigslist website was down
Craigslist usually resolves outages very quickly and their site should be back up soon! You can check the status of the issue here or contact PostEngine support for more info
rapid posting blocked by CL
Craigslist blocked the post because you were posting ads too quickly
Take a short posting break (we recommend 2-3 hrs) to let your account cool down. When you start posting again, make sure you always leave at least 1 full hour between each new post.
high volume blocked by CL
Craigslist blocked the post due to high volume. This could be because you're posting too many ads or because there's too much activity on the account (price updates, auto-renews, etc.).
If you have been posting a lot of ads, take a short posting break (we recommend 2-3 hrs) to let your account cool down. If you haven't been posting a lot of ads, contact support
login failure
PostEngine couldn't log in to your property's Craigslist account to post the ad.
There may be an issue with your Craigslist account credentials. Please contact support
CL account in use elsewhere
The Craigslist account PostEngine tried to use to post the ad has an active session somewhere else.
Make sure you aren't logged in to your property's Craigslist account in a web browser (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc) so that your PostEngine app can access the account when it needs it. To view the live ads in your CL account without interrupting PostEngine, use the Craigslist tab inside your app.
If you have questions or need help troubleshooting this, please contact support
