Overview
PostEngine updates ensure you have the latest features and improvements. In most cases, updates happen automatically, but you can also check your version and update manually at any time.
Check Your Version
- Open PostEngine for Desktop.
- Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner.

Locate your version number under Software Details.

Update in the App
If an update is available, PostEngine will usually notify you directly in the app. If you see a pop-up update prompt or a red notification on the bell icon, click to Update/Install Now.

Manually Check for Updates
- Open PostEngine for Desktop.
- Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner.
- Click Check for update.

If an update is available, click Restart Required to apply the update, and PostEngine will restart to install the latest version.

Update from the Microsoft Store
If your update does not install automatically, you can update PostEngine through the Microsoft Store.
- Open the Microsoft Store from your taskbar or Start menu.
- Click Downloads in the bottom-left corner.

Click Check for updates. The Microsoft Store app will scan for updates for all installed apps. If an app update is detected, it will be downloaded and installed automatically. You're all done!

Troubleshooting
Will the update take a long time and if the program restarts, will I lose my work?
PostEngine updates are usually very quick and no, you won't lose your work! Posts that you have scheduled won't be affected by restarting/updating the software.
How do I know if my software is up to date?
Check for updates inside PostEngine for Desktop and in the Microsoft Store. If there aren't any updates available in either place, then your software is up to date.
I want the Microsoft Store to install my PostEngine updates automatically.
To turn this feature on, open the Microsoft Store app and click the account icon in the top-right, and select Store Settings. Toggle the App Updates switch on.
There's an issue with the update.
