Location & Map in your PostEngine Settings

Overview

This page will cover the Location & Map section of your PostEngine settings page.

To access your PostEngine settings page

If you're using the PostEngine for Desktop application: 

1. Open PostEngine for Desktop.
2. Click PostEngine Settings on the left-hand side.

If you're using the PostEngine Chrome extension:

1. Open Google Chrome.
2. Click on the puzzle-piece icon in the upper-right corner of the Chrome browser window.
3. Click on PostEngine by Rooof.
4. Click Settings.

Posting Location

The Posting Location section allows you to adjust the Craigslist region your ads are posted in.

To select the region you would like to post in, open the drop-down and choose your Craigslist region from the list.

Note: If you leave this setting on Ask Me Every Time, Show Best Guess, PostEngine will display the best guess of your region at the time of posting. 

Neighborhood

The Neighborhood section allows you to narrow down your property's location using specific descriptions that might help attract prospects!

Click the Add Neighborhood Description button to add an additional neighborhood description.

If needed, click the trash can button to delete the description.

Note: PostEngine will randomly select a neighborhood description each time you post.

Address

The Address section allows you to override the address information for your ads.

PostEngine automatically pulls the address from your property's website. If you need to override what PostEngine is finding on your website, you can enter the address information in this section.

Note: If you post for more than one property, do not enter any address information in this section. PostEngine will use this address for all your ads.

Map

The Map section allows you to adjust where Craigslist places your property on the map.

The following numbers correspond to the screenshot above:

1. When the Show address box is checked, your property will be displayed on a map in your Craigslist ads. If you do not want your ads to include a map, uncheck this box. We recommend that you allow your property to be shown on the map.
2. When this option is selected, Craigslist will place your property on the map based on your address and their mapping system. Their mapping system can sometimes be inaccurate, so you may wish to select the next option instead.
3. When this option is selected, the map below will be displayed and you are able to select where your property is shown on the map. This ensures that your map location is as accurate as possible.
4. This box will only show if Let me set the pin location on the map is selected. To place your pin on the map, enter your full address here.
5. Once you have entered your address in the box above, PostEngine will place a pin on the map. You are able to drag the pin around to fine-tune your location.

Note: If you post for more than one property, do not enter any address information in this section. PostEngine will use this address for all your ads.

Posting Category

The Posting Category section allows you to adjust the Craigslist category that your ads are posted in.

When left on Auto Detect, PostEngine will choose the category that your ads will be posted in.  For most users, this is the Real Estate > Rentals category.

To select which category you would like your ads in, open the drop-down and select the appropriate category.

Note: There is also an option to have PostEngine show you what you last selected, but allow you to change it at the beginning of each post. If you would like this option, select Ask Me Every Time, Remember My Previous Choice.

Broker Information

The Broker Information section allows you to enter any broker information (if applicable). 

PostEngine will use any broker information stored in this section in your posted ads.  

Note:  This section is only applicable to brokers 

Troubleshooting

I'm trying to post into my region, but it's not giving it to me as an option? 

We are only able to post into regions and sub-regions that Craigslist has chosen.  If your region isn't an option, we recommend posting into the closest region and using the Neighborhood section to highlight your specific location. 

I post for multiple properties but it always shows the same map in my ads

Your PostEngine settings page is computer-specific (not property-specific).  Anything you save in your Map section will be used for all ads posted from your computer.  If you post for multiple properties we recommend selecting the Let Craigslist auto-detect the pin location on their map option.

Why is the map incorrect in my ads?

Craigslist will place your property on the map based on your address and their mapping system. Their mapping system can sometimes be inaccurate, if this is the case, we recommend setting the pin location on the map in your PostEngine settings.
